First extinct animal
Michelle Almazan 9-29-2020 Tecopa Pupfish, a native of the hot springs of the Mojave Desert, the first animal declared extinct under the provisions of the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Fun fact, the last Tecopa Pupfish was seen in 1970. The Tecopa Pupfish is about 1.5 to 3 inches in an adult size, it became extinct because of the drying out of water, climate change and the introduction of fish to its natural habitat. This fish would hide from its predators by digging into the mud or soil and they would also do that to keep warm from the hot and cold temperature.
