Extinction

      Michelle Almazan

Extinction is one of the many important and bad things going on around the world.  Some major causes of extinction are habitat loss, an introduced species, pollution, population growth, and overconsumption. Scientist estimate that 150-200 species of plant, insect, bird and mammal become extinct every 24 hours. Researchers estimated that humans have driven at least 680 vertebrate species to extinction, including the woolly mammoth.

Some ways that animals go extinct are that they are hunted, their homes are torn down or they have no food. It all starts with us , we could prevent animal extinction by stopping oil rigs in the middle of the ocean, no more illegal hunting, prevent forest fire and floods. Interesting fact, more than 10,000 animals die from hunting all over the world. Extinction is real important to me because as species disappear, infectious diseases rise in humans and throughout the animal kingdom, so extinction directly affects our health and chances for survival. We need to all come together and stop this before it’s to late.
